  • Bald eagle, adult in flight, Totman Cove, Phippsburg, Maine. This bird was strafing a single, Common Atlantic Eider chick. It swooped down repeatedly, but the tiny ball of fluff bird dove under each time the eagle came for it. Eventuallly, after about 10 minutes, the eagle was simply too tired to continue. It flew to a tree and rested. Several hours later, it returned to try again, and fail, again. The bird is panting from exhaustion.
