Flock of Eastern Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo silvestris) feeding on salt marsh, October, Phippsburg Maine. Wild turkeys were nearly exterpated from Maine. They were re introduced in Maine in 1977. Since then, their population has flourished. I see them frequently here on coastal Maine.
