  • Osprey, also called Fish Hawks, Pandion haliaethus is a migratory bird of prey in Maine. This large raptor hunts only live fish. It hovers in the air over water to see fish then plunges feet first to capture fish. . Pandion haliaetus, or Osprey are also called Fish Hawks. In Maine, they are a migratory, bird of prey. These large raptors hunt only live fish which they capture by plunging feet first into the water. They hover in flight to search below the water surface.
