  • These rigs were kick scooters or a sort of 'skate.' They were worn on the foot and strapped to the leg just below the knee. They were a very early verion of a sort of inline skate dating from the early 1800s. I photographed them in Key West, Florida at the Audubon House and Garden museum. I'm sure that for the few times they were made to operate, they were a load of fun. But talk about leg breaking deadly!
  • skink species unknown. There are five species of Skinks in south Florida. I'm not sure what kind this one is. Got any ideas? These little guys were all over place from Fort Lauderdale to the Keys. They were really fast and didn't sit long for photos. I think they are sort of cute in a lizardy way. This one was in Key West in town. It was on a tree trunk.
  • Before trees leaf out they provide a stark beauty. These are oaks, Phippsburg, Maine in April. study in black and white

  • black and white scenic - Totman Cove Preserve, also called Sebasco Beach and Cushman Beach is owned by the Town Of Phippsburg Maine and open to town residents. It has a few short hiking trails up North Creek which bounds the preserve on the east side. The beach on Totman Cove has a very shallow, sandy bottom making this a great place for children.
